25th PAPJA Convention

PAPJA stands for Psychological Association of the Philippines--Junior Affiliates. This convention was held last Jan. 13 and 14, 2012, at Colegio de San Juan de Letran in Intramuros, Manila.

the first photo is the ID from the PAPJA kit :)
on the upper right photo, that's a supposed movie billboard. haha
on the lower left picture, that's the quiapo church with so many commuters/bystanders!
the lower right photo is i don't know what building. hahaha but it's the first building we passed by as we enter Intramuros :)

For the first half day of the first day, there was a number of talks. Three psychologists, in different fields-- Ma. Regina Hechanova-Alampay, Phd (consultant), Ms. Divine Love Salvador, and Mr. Patrick Ong Ante (counselor)--talked about their respective fields--gave a background of their job, description of what they do, etc. They also entertained questions afterwards.

After the lunch break came the presentation of outstanding undergraduate research. For me this was the most boring part, the audience's interest wasn't captured by the speakers.

Afterwards is the Inter-School Psychology Quiz Competition where ADMU won first, next is DLSU, then FEU. Too bad UST didn't won :( But we're still proud. :) And, congrats to the winners! hehehe

The quiz bee was followed by the (most-awaited) Transcendance Contest. It's a dance competition! I say this is the most-awaited because everyone looks so sleeeeepy and we just need an icebreaker :) University of Makati won first place, with their very much deserving performance. hahaha! Next is the San Beda College-Alabang but I'm doubtful about it because there are groups who performed way better than them, but oh well. The third place goes to University of the East-Manila, which I think performed even better than the San Beda. *sighs* haha!

After the event, we had a mini-field trip around Intramuros and Gem (our long, lost friend) was our tour guide. She was our blockmate when we were Freshmen but she transferred to Letran on our second year and since this year's PAPJA is in Letran, we get to reunite!

On the second day, the event lasted a half day only. And we were supposed to be in a workshop but since we ran out of slots the previous day, they opened another workshop that can accommodate 400 people in Letran's gymnasium. Everyone who wasn't able to register for the workshops attended this workshop. It's more like a seminar, or talk. But the topic was really interesting: Coping with Life's Challenges Positively. Oha! hahaha

how the gym looks like on the second day. way lesssss people compared to the first day.
